Starting on February 1 from 4 pm until 8 pm, traffic on Rama I road is rearranged to ease traffic gridlock during rush hours on the road and Ratchaprasong intersection which has impact on roads in surrounding areas.
Pol Maj-Gen Chirapat Phumichit, deputy commissioner of Metropolitan Police Bureau, said Thursday (Feb 1) that, under the new traffic arrangement, all vehicles except buses and motorcycles heading in the direction of Ratchaprasong intersection will have to turn right at Chalerm Phao intersection into Henri Dunant and Rama IV roads respectively.
Only public buses and motorcycles are allowed to head straight toward Ratchaprasong intersection.
Private cars which emerge from CentralWorld shopping mall must turn left toward Ratchaprasong intersection where they can either turn right into Ratchadamri road or turn left heading toward Pratunam intersection and turning right into Phetchaburi road toward Phetchaburi expressway or Mit Samphan intersection.
Cars from Chidlom and Ploenchit, upon arriving at Ploenchit intersection, must turn right into Wireless road to Rama IV road. During the evening rush hours, both Phetchaburi and Rama IV roads are the main out-bound routes.
