Voter Turnout Remains Steady Despite Rain in Nakhon Si Thammarat By-Election

Nakhon Si Thammarat: People braved the rain to exercise their right to vote in the by-election for Constituency 8. The atmosphere of the by-election for the House of Representatives, Constituency 8, in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province saw residents gradually coming out to vote, despite intermittent rainfall throughout the afternoon.

According to Thai News Agency, in Na Bon District, which houses 37 polling stations across 3 sub-districts, rain fell intermittently throughout the afternoon. Despite this, people continued to exercise their right to vote as soon as the rain subsided. This was evident at polling stations such as the Na Bon Sub-district Municipality Sports Stadium and the Na Bon Sub-district Village Multi-Purpose Building. Polling station officials noted that while large numbers of voters turned out in the morning, the number of voters in the afternoon was sparser.

The situation was similar in other districts, including Chawang District, Chang Klang District, and Pipun District. Although voter turnout appeared thinner than in the morning, residents continued to participate in the election process despite the rain.

The director of the Election Commission of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Mr. Thanakrit Nakjarupong, reported that since the polls opened at 8:00 a.m., the election in Constituency 8, comprising a total of 233 units, proceeded smoothly. More than 50 percent of eligible voters had already cast their votes. It is anticipated that more voters will turn out in the remaining 2 hours before the polls close at 5:00 p.m.

With only 2 hours left until voting ends, the Election Commission expects the vote count at the polling stations to take about 1.5 to 2 hours after voting concludes. The results will then be sent to the operations center in Chawang District, with the election outcome expected to be announced no later than 10:00 p.m. tonight, revealing the winner of the Constituency 8 MP seat.
