Warning Issued for Aftershocks Following Earthquake in Chawang

Nakhon Si Thammarat: The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command Center of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province has issued a warning to the public to remain vigilant for potential aftershocks following a magnitude 3 earthquake that occurred in Tambon Sai Ra, Amphoe Chawang, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province at 5:00 a.m. Residents reported feeling the tremors, and loud noises were heard in nearby Tambons Kapiat, Mai Riang, and Huai Prik. Consequently, hospital staff were prompted to evacuate the building as a precautionary measure. Authorities are currently investigating any potential damage.

According to Thai News Agency, reporters visited Village 4 in Sai Ra Subdistrict, Chawang District, to assess any impact on local rubber plantations and fruit orchards. Fortunately, no damage was observed. Meanwhile, officials from Somdech Phra Yuppharat Chawang Hospital reviewed CCTV footage, which confirmed that the tremors lasted for approximately 2 seconds during which staff experienced dizziness. A thorough survey of the hospital premises revealed that there was no damage reported.
