Giant Sinkhole Repair Nears Completion in Front of Vajira Hospital

Bangkok: Prepare to fill the giant hole tomorrow. The road is expected to be opened on October 9.

According to Thai News Agency, the Engineering Institute of Thailand has announced plans to begin filling the giant sinkhole tomorrow, marking positive progress over the past six days. To ensure the road's readiness for public use, trucks will be employed for testing before the scheduled opening on October 9.

Efforts to address the sinkhole in front of Vajira Hospital have seen officials moving large steel pipes to the site at Samsen Metropolitan Police Station. The ground level must be even and stable, and a team of engineers will use a small backhoe to excavate and inspect the area beneath the building. Temporary structural reinforcements may be added to the space beneath the foundation to maintain stability.

The road is expected to be open for traffic on October 9, following a test of the road surface by the Engineering Institute of Thailand under Royal Patronage. This test will help ensure public confidence before the official reopening. Trucks and officials will assess the road's strength to guarantee its safety.

If the repair work proceeds as scheduled in early October, residents may be able to return to nearby buildings after a thorough structural assessment confirms their safety.
