Governor Chadchart Monitors Progress on Vajira Hospital Landslide Resolution

Bangkok: Governor Chadchart Sittipunt is actively overseeing the resolution of the landslide and road collapse in front of Vajira Hospital, ensuring construction progresses smoothly despite recent rains.

According to Thai News Agency, the Bangkok Governor has been closely following the situation in Dusit District, where his team began pouring concrete overnight, completing over 200 cubic meters of concrete work by around 2:00 AM. The approach involved pouring concrete in small increments to maintain proper flow and meet standard conditions, which allowed the work to proceed effectively while maintaining structural integrity.

Despite 10 millimeters of rain in Lat Krabang District and surrounding areas, the project remains unaffected. To manage the situation, water pumps and drainage systems were installed, allowing the concrete pouring process to continue successfully. While rainwater poses a risk of landslides, preventive measures, such as clearing debris, constructing temporary embankments, and preparing backup water pumps and generators, have been implemented. Although minor landslides occurred in some areas, they did not affect the main structures.

The Mass Rapid Transit Authority (MRTA) and the contractor are responsible for the project, with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) coordinating efforts and reporting on progress. The project receives comprehensive support to ensure it meets safety standards. The Prime Minister has also visited the site several times, including an unannounced visit to boost morale among staff and workers, ensuring all remain vigilant. The project is advancing according to plan, with safety and risk mitigation measures in place, and workers confirm that operations are proceeding smoothly.
